Living Carpet

Living Carpet is a relief built from wild flora and urban matter; an unpredicatable surface filled with the unknown. The carpet creates a habitat with an underground connection formed between various living creatures. The properties of brick create the ideal environment for many plants and fungi, because of its ability to retain moisture and heat, which gradually forms a biotope.
The work was made at Rairies Montrieux brick factory, France. Terracotta bricks are cut open to reveal the inner surface that is filled with soil and plants. The usual order of the brick is turned on its head, losing its predictability and declining into disorder.
